Although it may be fun to spend time with friends, and to meet new people, solo time is equally beneficial to your wellbeing. Alone time is an essential part of everyone’s spiritual development and should be planned and enjoyed frequently.

Some people are afraid to be alone, and look for excuses to be around anyone just to avoid the time of introspection and reflection. Making yourself busy, in order to avoid the inevitable, is doing you a disservice. It’s important to give yourself the time and space that you need to really get to know the real you.

  1. Who Are You?

Do you know who you are? The persona that you display to others is not the real you. The real you is the person you are when you are on your own, and free to be yourself. Even if you have a best friend that you confide in, this person will not truly know the real you unless you know yourself.

Solo time gives you the space that you need to explore your identity. You are not someone’s child, sibling or parent. The real you is someone much bigger than that. It is the essence of your soul that lies underneath all the layers of perceived identity that everyone carries around. By getting to know yourself you are able to remove all the layers to reveal the real you. The more of your perceived identity you let go of, the greater your confidence, self-esteem and self-belief will grow.

When you are on your own you have complete freedom to let go of everything that is on your mind or troubling you. Behind closed doors, in your own company, you can let rip and scream, shout, cry, laugh, sing, dance or do absolutely anything that makes you feel good.

Use your quality ‘me’ time to let go of negative thinking, stress, tension and anxiety. Put yourself first and let go of everything else. Meditation can help you to connect with your inner wisdom and intuition, and strengthen your bond with your spiritual guides. Regular daily meditation practice, of a minimum of 5 minutes, is highly beneficial in keeping you calm, relaxed, balanced and grounded.

  1. Explore An Opportunity To Learn Something New

As you get to know the real you don’t be surprised to find that you have a passion for something. Your inner child loves free expression and ‘play’. Allow yourself to reconnect with the joy of creativity and learning new things. If you love physical movement sign up for a dance class and turn up on your own. If you enjoy artistic expression buy some paints or pastels and find the perfect scenery to recreate. Learning something new will boost your confidence and expand your knowledge.

Although you may feel uncomfortable spending time alone, at first, you’ll soon begin to value this precious time. Once you find that you prefer to choose to be on your own, over spending time with people who don’t really mean much to you, you’ll be well on the way to discovering who you are.

Not relying on other people to entertain you or keep you company will teach you to be independent. You’ll have the confidence to go anywhere or do anything by yourself. Independence gives you the freedom to do whatever you please, whenever you want to.

The more time that you make for quality ‘me’ time the sooner you will get to know who you are. When you reveal your true identity you will fall in love with yourself. You’ll be in awe of your amazingness and vitality, and you’ll see life with fresh eyes. You’ll also find that you attract new people and opportunities that are perfectly aligned with your divine identity. What’s not to love about that?
