I have always known that there is more to life than meets the eye, more than science alone can explain. As a child I used to have vivid dreams that would later come true. How is that scientifically possible? What rational explanation can there be for such things? My family initially thought I was experiencing some kind of déjà vu. They grew less sceptical when I started predicting certain situations and events days before they actually happened. Unfortunately, as I grew older the dreams came less frequently but the experience left me with a lifelong interest in the paranormal, particularly precognition. By my early teens I was experimenting with various divination tools: runes, tarot cards and even the I Ching. Tarot cards eventually became my tool of choice. I use the original Rider-Waite cards and the thing I like most about them is the vivid imagery that somehow helps shift you towards the alpha state of mind you need in order to really tune in.
What do you like most about giving readings to clients?
I like hearing clients' stories about the journey they have been on and offering them guidance via the tarot with whatever situations or events they are currently going through. A good reading should always leave you feeling more optimistic about your situation, not because the reader has told you what you want to hear but because the tarot have opened up new possible alternatives toward a more positive future.
How would you say you are typical of your star sign?
I am a Virgo and very typical of my star sign: patient, empathic and always optimistic!
When do you remember being first aware of your gift?
I was in my early teens when I first started using the tarot cards on a regular basis. I remember giving a friend's mum a reading when I was about sixteen. She was stunned by what came out during the reading and thought someone had set her up! They hadn't. I had genuinely only spoken about what I could see in the cards. When several of the predictions I made during that reading later came true she became my first regular client!
What is your most memorable experience with a client?
I once had a regular client who was going through a very difficult time financially. She had recently lost her job and was getting further and further into debt as a result. The funny thing was, though, her reading was dominated by pentacles, a suit that is associated with financial abundance and general prosperity. Anyway, long story short I told her that I felt like she was about to come into money. She thought I was just telling her what she wanted to hear but with the particular composition of cards in her reading I felt confident enough to bet on it. I told her not to pay me for the reading until the windfall actually came. I'll never forget the way she smiled and thanked me, no doubt thinking I only gave her the reading for free because I felt sorry for her. As you can probably guess, six weeks later she came back to me with a spring in her step and a huge smile. Not only had she managed to find another job but she had also come into a significant amount of money. Not, as you might imagine, a lottery win or an inheritance but rather a book deal with a major publishing house. A literary agent had spotted some of her work online and approached her with a very lucrative proposal.
What other experiences or qualifications do you have that you feel compliment your work as a reader?
In many ways I feel like I have already lived several lifetimes. I have been through so many challenging situations that have humbled me time and time again. I could have easily given up at any point but something inside drove me on and with each subsequent setback I somehow managed to recover and grow stronger. Everything happens for a reason. Napoleon Hill famously said that every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit. That can be difficult to believe when you are in the thick of it but it has always proved true for me and I believe it can prove true for you too. I always tell clients not to judge the bad times too early because sometimes our darkest moments turn out to be the moments where our lives start to change for the better.
What is the most important thing for a person to consider when they decide to have a psychic reading?
A person should first consider the reason they actually want a reading: are they looking for general guidance or is there something in particular they would like to look into? The client is not playing a game of poker with the reader, tarot is not a guessing game. The more specific the client can be about what it is they would actually like to know, the more focused the reading can be.
