Whether you are a December or a January born Capricorn, the Sun will always spend the first three weeks of each year in your sign and this allows you to own the year from the get go. With every year always starting and ending during your birthday month, you get to experience what the rest of us never will, which is to begin a new solar and calendar year at the same time. This will always give you an opportunity to push the 'reset' button but especially this month when you literally have over half the solar system supporting you. For while you will always begin each year with the Sun in Capricorn, starting the year with six planets here is a very different story. Especially when half of those planets are not only here for most if not all of 2020 but are three of the most powerful planets in the solar system. Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion is spending his first full month in Capricorn in over a decade, bringing you to start of not just a new solar and calendar year but the start of a new 12 year Jupiter cycle of expansion. However, you also have Pluto, the planet of change and revolution in Capricorn and Saturn, not only the planet that can give you the power to move mountains if you have to but is your ruling planet. Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn have never met up in Capricorn at the same time in our lifetime and by the time Pluto and Saturn align on 12th/13th January, you will sense that almost anything is possible. Until Mercury leaves on 17th January he is giving you the means to keep your head in the game and your feet on the ground but even with your birthday month ending on 21st January, with so much still unfolding most of this year will be made up as you go. In the meantime, there are some other exciting developments this month, though in nowhere close to the degree of the planetary activity happening in Capricorn. One of those areas is on the income and career fronts, where everything falls in the Goldilocks zone, where there is enough action to give you what you need but not so much that it is demanding. Another area of focus is the communication and relationship fronts, while Mars' return to a nostalgic and reflective part of your chart on 3rd January will bring a call to pace yourself.
Week beginning Monday 20th of January 2020
After the intensity of starting last week with five of the six planets in Capricorn aligned and with all six having just been pummelled by an eclipsing Full Moon, things are a lot less intense this week. The faster moving planets are both moving apart and moving on, with Mercury having left Capricorn last Friday and the Sun leaving on Tuesday, bringing your birthday month to a close. This still leaves four planets in Capricorn and three of them playing a long game you are nearly at the point of being ready to commit to your new solar year, the future and the journey ahead. While the Sun and Mercury are turning their attention onto your income situation, matters and options, the dwarf planet Ceres is staying on in Capricorn for another week. This gives you time to take a deeper dive into your real needs and priorities and before embracing this expansive and opportune year, make time to redefine your own definition of success.
Thursday 23rd of January 2020
Sometimes it is the ordinary things that matter more than the big things and today is an example of that. Last week saw five of the six planets in Capricorn align, including the first alignment between Saturn and Pluto anywhere in four decades and the first here in our lifetime. In contrast, the Moon's alignment with Jupiter here today, the only one of the six planets not aligned last week, happens every four weeks. Yet today this gives you access to all that the planet of luck and expansion will make possible in 2020.
Capricorn is the tenth sign of the zodiac, ruled by the planet Saturn. The planet that has the pretty coloured rings around it!
Yours is a feminine sign but before anyone expects you to be soft or fluffy, they should know that you're a determined and capable cardinal sign. You don't mind taking orders but with your considerable ambition, you're more likely to be the one giving them.
The rings around planet Saturn symbolise boundaries and you are sure to come up against one or two of these in your lifetime. You have strong personal boundaries too, as you're naturally cautious and you like to get to know people before you allow them to get too close.
The symbol for Capricorn is the goat. Some lucky goats live wild on the mountainside, able to slowly climb ever upwards to the summit. The view from the top of the mountain is something every pioneering goat wants to experience.
Other goats are confined to farmland, or tied to ropes to stop them wandering, but they seem to happily accept these boundaries and continue to graze on the grass and produce nourishing milk. Whether you get to the top of your field or not, you'll always be productive!
In myth, Saturn was the Roman God of agriculture and he ruled over the grain and harvest. Another of Saturn's many faces is Old Father Time. You like to do things at your own pace, or in your own time. Although you appear to have a strange relationship to time, you can live it backwards!
In youth, you're often the quiet child with the old wise head on young shoulders and you're able to behave with incredible restraint and maturity. Then you reach old age and suddenly you do a complete turn around and you're able to be playful, childlike and uninhibited. You're able to take the insecurities of your childhood and work on them until they become your strengths in the future.
We might find you working in a government office or on a building site, where you'll probably be in charge, or we might find you at home caring expertly for your family. Capricorn is on the parental axis of the horoscope, like your opposite sign Cancer, you're one of the caretakers of the zodiac. You're excellent parent material, and because you do genuinely care about others, you'll readily offer support to your friends and workmates too.
Some say that you're like a fine wine that matures beautifully with age. You get along best with the other earth signs, Taurus and Virgo, and also with the water signs Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.
Saturn moves slowly through the signs, taking 29 years to complete one round of the zodiac. It's position in your horoscope adds another layer to your intricate personality. If you'd like to know more, one of our astrologers will be happy to take your call.
